BaZi ("four pillars") describes destiny through the interaction of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches at the moment of birth. Four pairs of symbols set the basic temperament and potential.
The key to a reading is the balance of the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. One element is in excess, another is lacking, and this shapes typical ways of acting and erring.
The Luck Pillars show ten-year cycles: when it makes sense to start and when to conserve resources. This is not a sentence but a map of seasons.
The practical point is to find a strategy: which areas support your element, which professions and environments give support and which drain you.
